Recycling Made Easy!

Apr 9, 2024

Ok, first off, can we all just collectively agree that regardless of whether you’re into sky-gazing or not, that whole eclipse thing was pretty cool?

I know that I, for one, was in awe of the eerie transformations occurring all around, and I was particularly grateful to the neighbors who whooped it up when totality hit for confirming it was okay to remove the glasses and admire the sight of the hidden sun.

Of course, I was also grateful for those glasses before and after so that I could track what was happening and not burn out my retinas!

But now that all is said and done, I really can’t think of an occasion when I’ll need those glasses again. I mean, maybe they’d be handy for blindfold purposes in a rousing game of “pin the tail on the donkey”, but my kids have long outgrown that game.

That’s why I’ve been excited to see that people are collecting solar eclipse glasses to give to Astronomers Without Borders for reusing at future eclipse events around the world!

In fact, one such collection location is Jacobs Heritage Farm, where you’ll find the basket pictured above. Swing by to drop off your glasses, and maybe pick up some fresh eggs or something crafty while you’re there!

You can find Jacobs Heritage Farm on the map by visiting the Explore Copley page of our website, along with many more members to stop and see along the way.

Please note: Collection is only occurring through April 17th so be sure to swing by soon!
