Recently, I had a very pleasant and interesting conversation about chambers of commerce and what they do (yes, there are, in fact, very interesting conversations on that topic!).
Through the course of the conversation, the question was posed as to why the average person in the average community should care about their local chamber of commerce.
Now, I can’t speak to the average, but I can totally speak to the Copley!
You see, the Copley Chamber works hard to support both its members and the community through things like facilitating connections, providing cost-saving discounts and educational opportunities, spreading the word about our members, and planning events for both business networking and community fun.
And that’s just the short story of all we do!
But why should the average person care…?
Because our work helps create stronger local businesses. And stronger businesses are not only there for us when we need them (be it to shop, or to use a service, or what-have-you), but they’re also there for us in countless other ways.
They support our community events through participation and sponsorships.
They provide valuable jobs for our family, friends, and neighbors.
They work with local government, schools, and fellow businesses to create opportunities and solve problems.
They donate to causes, support local organizations, and lend their time, talents, and resources when their community needs them.
And they help create the character of the community itself.
So where does the Chamber fit into all of that?
Well, simply put, the Chamber helps make local businesses stronger so that the community around them is stronger, too.
And that, my friends, is the “why.”
